The 6 Rules of Productive Meetings

Must have an agenda, Start and finish on time, switch of phone, listen before speaking, assign actions, send out minutes promptlyWouldn’t it be nice if we could always have productive meetings? Meetings were actions were assigned and then completed. Meetings where decisions were actually made with a minimum of fuss and effort. Wouldn’t that be nice.

The Six Rules of Productive Meetings

  1. Must have an agenda
  2. Start & finish on time
  3. Switch off phones
  4. Listen before speaking
  5. Assign Actions
  6. Send out minutes promptly

#7 Replace any used whiteboard markers with fresh ones so that the next person doesn’t waste time trying every single marker only to discover that the previous inconsiderate person who didn’t replace the used whiteboard markers couldn’t be bothered to walk twenty paces to the stationary cupboard which of course has now made me look like an idiot in front of an important client who now considers this company to be pretty incompetent when it comes to managing meetings and who will now probably take their business to somewhere else so blowing next years profitability causing the company to make staff redundant which I most fervantly hope includes the person who DIDN’T REPLACE THE USED WHITEBOARD MARKERS!!!
